Hey! It’s time for my monthly blog update: I spent Monday and Tuesday last week at an excellent Herbel clinic hosted by Mary Lou Hayden. I worked Mesa at the clinic proper. Really nice people to hang out with, some really good larnin’, and a lot of confidence gained. The really amazing part was the private lessons [...] The Aussies & I spent the weekend at the HWASC spring stock trial. It’s an awesome trial. Nice stock, great place, fantastic hosting…you oughta come next time. Mesa was entered on Saturday. I had my first experience as an ASCA trial secretary. Elli had her first motel trip. Joe was along for the ride. All in [...] This morning I only have 3 dogs following me room to room. Because late last night Mesa, Elli, & I got back from a week at Larry Painter’s Cowcamp. Elli was experiencing travel, meeting people and stock, hanging out: Mesa was there to work: There weren’t many people at this first Cowcamp of the year. In fact, this [...] WHEW. I swear I got teary-eyed when the plane pulled away from the gate in Kona. I told you I wouldn’t want to come back. This past week has been hell. LONG trip back from Hawaii with an overnight flight from San Francisco to Chicago and morning drive home to central Illinois on Monday. I still [...] ugh…so much to write… sorry I didn’t write sooner. I slept instead! I got very little sleep the past two days… Big Things goin’ on… I’m going to skip all the juicy details of taking a flight to and from O’Hare International during a major midwest snow storm. Maybe I won’t skip the part where I [...] I play lots of retrieving games to encourage the dogs’ desire to retrieve. Mesa was a born retriever, but I taught her to retrieve what I point to…very useful when my back goes out! Joe was a complete non-retriever and it’s been a long haul to instill his desire. To keep it high, I almost never [...] This weekend’s adventure was going out to a trial on Saturday to collect the last leg of Joe’s ASCA CD. It was a cozy HWASC conformation/obedience trial out in eastern Indiana. Good people, good fun. And, um, lots of interesting little events. We had a pretty bad time with Joe’s first formal obedience ring exposure a year [...] This past weekend we attended the first HWASC ASCA Tracking Test. We had so much fun! Joe and I drew the second track in a neat area. There was a great hill where the gallery can see all the tracks being run and you never have to move the car. We started strong, but got hung [...] This weekend was our local bi-annual APDT rally trial. I entered all three dogs this time with certain specific goals. I figured I might as well get it over with here because I’m certainly not traveling with three dogs! I’m not sure what I will do about Kaia and Joe’s rally future. I will definitely work [...] Don’t let your dog eat mold. |
